Share your photos for the NNAP reports

Has your baby been cared for in a neonatal unit in the past three years? We're looking for photos that tell a story about your baby's care in hospital to feature in our next report and parent/carer guide for the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP).

This is your chance to get involved as we help improve the care that babies born premature or unwell receive. So if you have a story to tell, read on and submit your photos by Monday 6 July!

About NNAP

The National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP) helps neonatal units to improve the care provided to babies who need specialist treatment. This includes babies who are born too early, with a low birth weight or who have medical conditions. We use information about the care of these babies to help hospitals to improve the care and outcomes for other babies in the future.

Each year, the NNAP produces a national annual report, which outlines how we can improve neonatal care, and a parent and carer guide to the audit, called Your Baby’s Care. We want to include your pictures and stories in our reports to help us show why it is so important to continue to improve care.

To see the different measures the audit investigates and find information on each neonatal unit in England, Scotland, Wales and Isle of Man, please access the data dashboard.

We’re looking for photos of you and your baby’s experience in neonatal care, covering one or more of these themes:

  • Your baby when they were first admitted to the unit
  • Your baby getting help breathing (for example, having oxygen or on a breathing support machine)
  • You or your family getting involved in your baby’s care (for example, bathing your baby)
  • Your baby feeding (for example, breastfeeding or tube feeding)
  • Soothing your baby while they receive treatment
  • Then and now - your baby when they were first on the unit and now at age two

You can submit up to five photos, with captions. Your baby must have received neonatal care in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man.

Submit your photo(s) by Monday 6 July

We will select at least one photo for the front covers of the NNAP summary report on 2025 data and Your Baby’s Care our parent and carer guide, which will be published this autumn.

We will select other photos covering different themes for sections in Your Baby’s Care. We may also use photos for other NNAP materials, such as presentations or other reports.

We look forward to seeing your photos!
